(From Our Own Correspondent.) HALCOMBE, June 13. The draw for the ladies’ golf competition to bo played at the week-end is Mrs N. Ashworth and Mrs L. Miller, Miss B. Fcrgusosn and Mrs F. Cowdrey, Mrs J. O’Sullivan and Mrs R. Managh, Mrs R. Williams and Mrs Nairn, Mrs D. Managh, and Mrs J. Fergusson, Mrs G. Nieol and Miss O. Fcrgusson, Mrs L. Davies and Miss V. .Fergusson, Mrs L. At a meeßug of the Halcombe-Kakariki branch of Tr.e Y'omon’s Division of t l Farmers’ Union Mrs F. Brett presidcu. Mrs R. Anderson was welcomed as a new member and Airs R. TvliTlams as a .visitor. An invitation to attend the birthday of . the Palmerston North branch was received. A vote of thanks was passed to Miss M. AlcLennan for making the wreath placed on the monument on Anzac Day. The roll-call brought forth useful first-aid hints. A competition for bed socles was won by Airs C. Abbis, with Miss F. Scales second. The roll-call for June will bo “Jobs we detest” and the • competition “Something new from Something Old.’’.These articles, and also parcels of unwanted clothing, will be forwarded for use among the war refugees. The bring and buy stall realised 9s 3d. The Ilalcombc Rugby Fool'l'l Club’s dance, held in the Jubilee Hall, proved very enjoyable. -A feature was the excellent music. _ A Alonte Carlo ‘ waltz, w’as won by Sir and Airs Petrie and the lucky Gay Gordons by Miss L. Prior and Air f. Alarshall; Miss P. Blundcn and Air L. Brown were the winners of the lucky spot waltz. Euchre prizes were won by Airs A. AlcNae 1, Airs O. Peterson 2; Mr G. Armstrong 1, Air W.
