HARD LABOUR.
THEFT OF AIONEY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 13. The theft of money totalling £3 10s paid in as social security charge was alleged against Reginald Albert Lee, employed by the Land and Income Tax Department to-day. Accused, who is aged 46, admitted the offence and was sentenced to a month’s hard labour. The thefts were perpetrated in, mail sorting. , The Magistrate (Air J. L. Stout) remarked that suspicion had been thrown on other people. Also, it was money that had been paid in to the department, and the people concerned .had no proof that they had paid it and might be called upon to pay again.
