ESTIMATES FOR YEAR

POHANGINA COUNTY. RATES UNCHANGED. Estimates for the year were approved at a meeting of the Pohangina County Council, yesterday, when a general rate of fd in the £ was struck, on the motion of Crs AlcKay and Howell. .This rate, the same as that, of the previous year, is estimated to produce £3823. Estimated receipts and expenditure are as follow: Receipts.—Credit balance at Alarch 31, 1940, £l942rents, £200; licenses, £150; heavy traffic fees, £700; dog tax, £7O; subsidy on general rates, £9so;'subsidy, Alain Highways Board, £125; total, £4137; general rate at Jd, £3823; grand total, £7960. Expenditu r-e. Administration charges, salaries, etc., £1613; instalment, Church Hill deviation, £398; instalment, auto-patrol grader, £168; instalment, . Kiwitea Stream bridge, £100; transfer, plant account, £204; proportion maintenance, main highways, £789; maintenance of roads and bridges, £4085; total, £7857. The estimated credit balance is £603. The engineer’s' estimates of the amount to be spent on work in ridings was as follows: Awaliou, £664 ss; Coal Creek, £765; Alangaone, £709 ss; Alangapikopiko, £635 ss; Pohangina, £B3l 10s; Tamaki. £463 15s; Umutoi, £BO9 15s; total, £4874 15s. _ The hospital rate, of 2-stlis of a penny in the £, is the same as last year’s.
