GREAT MUSICAL TREAT.
OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT. ' A final reminder is given in this issue of the musical treat in store for all those who attend at (ho Opera House to-night. Arranged by Miss Marie Moffatt. an excellent programme will bo presented, and with tho popular admission prices the Patriotic fund should benefit considerably. Already mention has been made of the items, but once again attention is drawn to the fact that Miss Moffatt will play the No 1 Mendelssohn pianoforte concerto with the New Symphony Orchestra. This brilliant pianist' will be given full opportunity to display her musicianship in this work, and patrons are assured of a contribution which will be of outstanding merit. The orchestra, under Mr C. L. Mowlom's baton, will be heard in three other numbers. It will be of interest to mention that the orchestra came into being originally to provide the accompaniment for the concerto, but such talent was available that it was decided to progress to a furthc.ivstage. The public will by their presence in good numbers encourage the orchestra to continue its activities with a view to further presentations. Miss M. Dicdcrirh, one of Hip city's most talented vocalists will eontrib wlc Elgar's “The Shepherd’s Song,” and Mr G. M. Whilelock will sing “Bois Epais.” Messrs Browji and Walden will present the “Gendarmes Duet.’’ Other items include the Dolmanyi quintette (strings), piano-accordion trio. Alan Sundborn’s trip, and C. By 11 (xylophonist) in “Light Cavil rv” with accompaniment by the orchestra. This musical treat is available at 2s 6d. Is 6d and Is, and a capacity audience is anticipated. The doors will open at 7.30 and -the concert commences at 8 o’clock.
