INCREASED CONFIDENCE. LONDON, Oct. 7. Business on the Tx>ndon Stock Exchange markets lias not been large, but there is evidence of careful, selective buying. Growing confidence in the ability of the authorities to maintain easy money conditi/jns has helped alj. markets. Insurance, bank, aircraft, gas, electric, brewery, motor, newspaper and retail store shares have all sustained heavy losses since the outbreak of war. Food, tobacco and building material shares have fared bolter, while iron, steel, coal, ‘ chemical and rubber shares are little changed since August 31. Bull markets have been established in shipping, textile, base metal, and oil issues.
