MOTHERS’ UNION.

Si. Peter’s Parish Hall was brightly decorated with Mowers and greenery, yesterday afternoon, when the annual meeting of the Mothers’ Union way held.

Prior to the meeting a short service was held in the church, when Mrs .1. U. lOagle.some was admitted to membersi!.p. Rev. I l '. iS. Ramson officiated and spoke briefly on the three objects ol tiie union—to uphold the sanctity of marriage, to awaken in mothers a sense of responsibility in the training of their boys and gilds, the lathers and mothers of the future, and to organise, in every place, a hand of mothers who will unite in prayer and seek bv their own example to lead their families in purity and holiness of life. Mr Ramson presided over the meeting in the hull. The annual report stated: —“Raving survived the critical first three years of its organisation, the branch has, during the past year, successfully maintained .its record of interest and activity. Several members accepted invitations lo visit other branches —a form of mutual interest which assists so much to weld together the individual sections of our union. We were fortunate in having a considerable diversity of addresses. Our thanks are due, in this respect, to Mrs J. S. Horn blow, Rev. F. S. Ramson. Rev. J. C. W. Mutter. Rev. -J. S. Holland, Rev. I>. dc Candole and Mr W. H. Hicks. Thanks are also due to those people who assisted with items at each meeting, and to Rev. F. S. Ramson for his ever-readv assistance and advice.”

The election of officers resulted :—- Secretary. Mrs I. Brown ; treasurer. Mrs W. H. MePhail; committee, Mcsdames C. R. Hailey, .7. Mewott, T. Taylor, A. K. Burrell. F. Bennett and C. S|ieighl. Mrs Bennett agreed lo act as secretary of the Cathedral Fund. Members of the Fox ton branch extended an invitation to their third birthday celebrations, and All Saints’ branch invited two members to attend an afternoon tea.

Afternoon tea was served bv Alesdames C. Speight. 10. L. Burrell. .J. Joroniwn, A. Hutchins, A. 10. Fnglisli and A. Fridge. It was announced that meetings would start at 2.A0 p.m. during the winter months. 'I he next meeting would lie Ihe birthday party,' to which members from the All Saints' and Aslihiirst branches had been invited.
