Churchill were greeted with enthusiasm. An amusing competition wawon by Mr A. G. Dear and Mbs Dear. The male members of the gathering were invited to take a considerable part in the enlerlainnient and the husbands' roll-call. “What I think of the Women’s Institute.” gave scope for original and humorous replies. A wool-winding contest was heartilv entered into bv a large number. Air ('. Davison being the winner. The monthly competition, a sultana cake, had ]6 entries, and they were judged hy the popular vote of the men. The result was: Airs T. Collins 1. Mrs Friedrich 2, and Mrs Davison 3. The best flower In the garden (six entries) was won by Mrs Yarrall 1. All's Fox 2. and Mrs Friedrich 3. The bin Inlay cake occupied a prominent place: ii was made by All's N. Knight, ami the artistic icing was the work of Airs 11, Ransom. Three of the executive members. Ale«flanies 11. A 7. Caverlii'l. 'l'. Collins, and W. A. Churchill, officiated at the eeremonv of lighting the eleven candles, blowing. I hem out. and cutting the cake. A satisfying conclusion to the evening was supper served hy the committee.
