AUSTRALIAN LOAN
DISAPPOINTING RESPONSE. B E YOND AN TIC I RATION. SPEC ULATOIi S MIS SIN G. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copy right.) Received June 9, 8.5 u.m. LONDON, June 8. Quotations for the. Australian loan of £9,000,000 in 4 per cent, registered bonds opened at Jos discount. The result is far worse than anyone anticipated, the general view yesterday being that the underwiters would not lie left with more than 50 per cent. A later message says it is understood that the underwriters were left with SO per cent, of the loan. r Hio response is most disappointing, especially in view ol the success of the South African and Northern Ireland issues. Speculators, . apparently, are completely disinterested.
