PLUNKET SOCIETY
The following is the report of tho AVoodville sub-branch of the Plunket Society, to be presented at the annual meeting: In presenting the 16th annual report- we are happy to record another successful year. The work progresses steadily and our appeals for financial assistance continue to meet with a generous response. AYe are particularly grateful for the unsolicited contributions that have come to u> from time to time and cheered ns on our way. At the beginning of November we said goodbye to Nurse AlcDonald on her retirement from the active work of the Plunket Society. The large and enthusiastic gathering that met to do her honour testified to her popularity and the esteem in which she is held. AYe wish to place on record our appreciation of her services (hiring her six years’ connection with AVoodville. AA’e arc very fortunate in A! iss AlcDonald’s successor. Nurse Tinkham, in whom we have an indefatigable worker, and one who has the welfare of the mothers and babies very much at heart.
“During the yea r the Plunket Society has suffered a severe loss by the death of Airs J. D. C. Crewe, president for many years of the Pahiatua branch. AYe wish to pay tribute to her many fine qualities and the splendid work she did for women’s organisations. AA'o remember gratefully that sbo was one of three ladies who. seventeen years ago. made the first move towards tho formation of a sub-branch in AA’oodvi lie. “Our thanks are due to the Borough Council and county councils for their donations; Air Hustwick for his generosity in contributing the proceeds of his weighing machine ; the Press lor publicity; the auditor (Mr D. F. U. Keay) and to Airs R. N. L. Alunro for daily opening and closing tho rest room.”
