DEFENCE CAMPAIGN.
ENTHUSIASM IN TARANAKI. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, March 29. The urgent need for providing adequate detences to enable New Zealand to withstand an invasion was stressed at New Plymouth, last night, by Hon. W. Perry, in a Defence League address to an enthusiastic audience of over seven hundred—one of the largest of his tour. The speaker forcefully demonstrated the menace to New Zealand, and his advocacy of a large land force and compulsory military training in New Zealand was supported by sustained applause from the audience. At the conclusion of his address he was given an ovation. General Sir Andrew Russell also delivered an address to a large and enthusiastic meeting at Waitara last night.
