The Dannevirke Power Board today discussed in committee alternative proposals submitted by Air E. V. AYest, architect, of Palmerston North, for strengthening its buildings. On resuming in open board it was decided to instruct Air West to proceed on plans for reinforcing the front of the building. Air H. P. Horne (Woodville) recorded his vote against the motion, as he maintained that the whole building was in urgent need of strengthening. Directors of the Woodville Farmers’ Association met yesterday afternoon. Mr J. C. Bolton occupied the chair. It was reported that, despite the recent falling-off in entries and prices for stock, particularly sheep, the operations for the past year had been successful. and a recommendation was carried for the annual meeting that s-harehoklers he paid a dividend of 10 per cent. Large congregations attended the harvest thanksgiving services held in St. David’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Rev. I). H. Hay. 8.A., gave two inspiring sermons. Suitable anthems were rendered by the choir. Aire Hay. Alisses Stevenson and Graham, and Art C. Forbes being the soloists. The church was beautifully decorated and a very generous response was received to the appeal for produce, which is being forwarded to the Presbyterian orphanages in AVellington.
