MORAL REARMAMENT.

H. W. AUSTIN’S AMERICAN VISIT. ‘‘Moral Re-armament is the answer of sportsmen to the crisis,” said H. W. Austin, England’s No. L tennis player, on March 24, on the eve of his sailing for New York to join Dr. Frank Buchman, founder of the Oxford Group, in a national campaign for moral re-amrament,. Mr Austin received telegrams from Captain George Eyston, holder of the world’s land speed record; 1/on Harvey, British heavyweight boxing champion ; George Allison, manager of the Arsenal Football Club; the former English Rugby captain, B. C. Gadney, and players ol six nations competing in the' professional tennis championships in London.

‘ : f am going to America because 1 believe that Moral Re-armament is the strongest bridge across the Atlantic,” said Mr Austin. “I hope to meet American sportsmen, for as Harvey wired me. ‘\Ye need America’s sportsmen to fight for Moral Rc-arma-ment.’ ’

Mr Austin went on to say that ho had been asked to help to launch the hook “Moral Re-armament —the Rattle for Peace” in America. This lmok. which he himself edited, is a collection of a remarkable series of letters and statements by Royalty, statesmen, sportsmen, and leaders of every section of national life, urging Moral Re-armament as the need of the hour and the foundation for national and international security. In England, 350 000 copies of this book have already been bought. “This movement for moral re-arma-ment has spread like wildfire in Britain since the great American. Dr. Frank Buchman, launched it six months ago,” continued Mr Austin. “‘M.R.A.’ standards are 1o be seen everywhere, on billboards, in subways, and on milk bottle tops, ft is np to everyone to change national and international life through changing ourselves first.”

Mr Allison, the Arsenal manager, wired ; “Arsenal Football Club wishes you every success in your transAtlantic tour. M.R.A. can restore sanit-v and spirit to sportsmanship to world.” The professional tennis players wired ; “Every success to von Bunny on your American venture.— (signed) Tilden. Stoefen (America); C’ochet, Raniillon (France); Mnskoll (England); Nussloin (Germany): Kozoluh (Czechoslovakia); Ralmieri (Italy).” Forty-two Scandinavians left Oslo at the same time to join Air Austin and Dr. Bttebman in New York.. A cable conveying the foregoing has boon received by the movement in New Zealand.
