CITY BAND.
ENJOYABLE PICNIC. The Palmerston North City Silver Band held a most enjoyable picnic during the week-end at the overhead bridge at Raumai, there being a large attendance of bandsmen, their wives and families, and friends. The hand’s ladies’ committee was, as usual, to the fore, they having built up a reputation in the city for thorough organisation, and on this occasion they wore not found wanting. Lorries and private cars conveyed the party to the scene, where full use was made of the admirable picnic facilities. Just prior to starting for home, after a really delightful day, Captain F. W. G. McLeod, the new conductor, conveyed the thanks of visitors and guests for the way they had been entertained.
A special tribute was paid to Mr and 51 rs Boyce, now of Eoxton, but formerly of Palmerston North. 5Tr Boyce, it will he remembered, was the founder of the hand six years ago, the first practice having been held at his residence. The family continue to take a live interest in the band and they received a most enthusiastic reception on their arrival at the picnic.
