SOCIAL GATHERING.
GIFTS TO ROXGOTEA LADIES. An afternoon tea party was licit! recently at the residence of Mrs D. B. Howe (president of the Rongotea women's branch of the National Parly) to bid bon voyage to Mrs A. J. Will and Mrs W. Sanderccck, who arc leaving early next month for England. A most enjoyable time was spent with music and competitions. Vocal items by Miss Clifford, of Wellington, also gave much pleasure. The two guests were presented with beautiful sprays, and also small gifts. The opportunity was taken to include Mrs Keith Collinson, of Palmerston North, in the expression of goodwill, and to present to Iter also a spray and a gift. All the ladies made suitable acknowledgment. Mention was also made of Mrs J. Parker (another member of the committee), who recently sailed for England and the hope was expressed that her holiday would prove a very happy one. A dainty tea was served, and the particularly attractive flowers used in the decorations were much admired. A vote of thanks to Mrs Rowe for her hospitality was passed, and the afternoon brought to a close by the singing of “Auld Lang Sync.” Those present included: Mesdnmes Rowe, Will, Sandoreock, Collinson, Bower. Arnott, Davis, Hill, Misses Clifford. Hill, Darker and Will. —Rongotca correspondent.
