CANTERBURY REMITS. Per Press Association. TIMARU, March 21. Disapproval of the broadcasting of such serial recordings as “The Fourth Form at St. Percy’s” because they wore detrimental to correct speech and discipline among children was voiced at the conference of Iho North, Mid, and South Canterbury executives of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, held in T'imaru to-day. The conference also agreed to urge the Government to adopt a. more liberal policy toward the admission of a se I toted number of refugees from Europe into New Zealand. A further remit carried was that l>c'cau.se of the difficulty in securing domestic help in the country the import restrictions on electric, and other la-bour-saving devices !>c removed and prices modified. The conference also urged the abolition of hospital rates, contending tli.n.t the hospitals should lie wholly maintained from the social security fund.
