INDUSTRY IN FRANCE.
40-HOUR WEEK NOT REVOKED. Received March 22, 1.30 p.m. PARIS, March 21. An official statement has been issued giving an assurance that the 40hour week has not been revoked. It appeals to workers’ patriotism to accept the measures. The overtime bonus has been fixed at 10 per cent, to the 45th hour; thereafter the rate is at 5 per cent. The commanders in the Lyons, Metz and Strasbourg regions have become military governors, thereby controlling industry and civil authority. Another decree has been issued that information concerning the Arniy, Navy or Air Force subsidiary services, including air raid precautions, shall not lie published without the Government’s approval. The penalties lor non-compliance will be similar to those for espionage.
