WICKETS FALL
WANGANUI EIGHT FOR 90. TOURISTS’ GOOD BOWLING. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Feb. 17. The cricket match between Sir Julien Cahn’s team and Wanganui started at 11.30 in dull but fine weather. The wicket was in good order. Wanganui batted first, Sewell a.nd Thomas opening, Phillipson and Lush being the bowlers, Lush, the fast bowler, secured three wickets with four balls, the victims being Thomas, Kauter and Barton. With the score at 12 Sewell was clean-bowled by Phillipson, and without addition Lush spreadeagled Guy’s wickets. After an hour’s play six wickets were down for 38.
Connor and Cuming made a good stand, batting confidently after settling down, the former hitting Walsh for two successive fours. Cuming was very aggressive, bringing 80 up with a nice cover drive. His score was 35. Smith, with the first ball of the over before lunch, howled Connor and the score was then 90 for eight wickets.
