MILITARY TRAINING.

COMPULSION ADVOCATED. Per Press Association. TE APOHA, Feb. 17. At a public meeting convened by the Mayor to form a branch of the Defence League, the opinion was generally expressed that the whole country was awaiting a lead from the Government in the matter of compulsory military training, and that in view of the strained international relations immediate steps should be taken to build up the defences of the Dominion. It was decided to form a Te Aroha branch of the league.
