Mr H. G. Leng-Ward, of the Manawatu Kennel Club, has been appointed judge at the New Plymouth gun dog field trials, which are being held at New Plymouth this week-end.

Sir Hubert Ostler, who presided over the recent sessions of the Supreme Court in Palmerston North, left to-day for Napier. His Honour is accompanied by Lady Ostler.

Mr J. R. Hughes, city engineer, leaves on Monday to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Civil Engineers in Auckland, following which he will take his annual leave. Mr W. Low Black, of Palmerston North, will be the representative of the Manawatu and District Justices Association at the conference of the Federated Justices of the Peace to be held at Timaru on March 14 and 15. From 14 applicants, including a number resident overseas, Mr Richard. Horton Toy, a graduate of the School of Architecture, Auckland University College, lias been appointed lecturer ■and studio instructor in architecture at the school. —Press Association.
