LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN
The monthly parade of No. 3 troop (Woodville) of N. Squadron (Manawatu) of the Legion of Frontiersmen was held this week. Troop^-Lieutenant D. Keay being in charge. Nineteen members were present. One new member was proposed, this bringing the strength of the troop to 27. Discussion ensued on the question of the future camp site, and arrangements were also made for the quarterly meeting of the squadron. Appreciated musical items were contributed by Lieutenant D. Keay. and Frontiersmen H. Brooker and C. E. Stevens. Captain Honore warmly thanked the Woodville troop for it 6 excellent arrangements for the meeting and its characteristically liberal hospitality. Tlie proceedings revealed that the troops represented were making splendid progress. Tlie quarterly meeting of N. Squadron was held last night, Captain D. S. Honore presiding. There was an attendance of about 40 men, representative of the Palmerston North City, MTiariti (Ashhurst) and M T oodville troops. The chairman extended a welcome to the visitors and expressed pleasure at the presence of the Mayor of "Woodville (Mr It. R. Johnston), himself a Frontiersman. A considerable amount of business was transacted. It was decided that the Easter camp be held as usual at Ngaputahi, Pohangina. The meeting was addressed at some length by Captain E. Sherry and Private W. Flogdell, of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Palmerston North, who made a strong plea for Frontiersmen to avail themselves of the facilities for taking a course of instruction in first aid. Captain Honore thanked the speakers for their attendance. He extolled the work the Ambulance Brigade wa6 doing, and assured them of the Squadron’s co-operation.
