Miss Patricia Nelson, who has been visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs ML H. Nelson, of “Lauriston,” has returned to Sydney. Mrs Nelson accompanied her daughter to Wellington. Woodville district friends will regret to learn that Rev. G. Knowles-Smith, of Bluff, Southland, and formerly in charge of the local Methodist Church, is not enjoying the best of health owing to a. recurrence of rather serious eye trouble from which he previously suffered for some time.

Mr C. J. Bishop. 8.A.. Dip. Ed., who has held the position for about five years of secondary assistant at the local District High School, has been officially • advised by the Hawke’s Bay Education Board of his promotion to the headmastership of the Tikokino School, and he will take up his new duties on March 1. Students, parents and members of the teaching profession will tender their congratulations to MiBishop upon his appointment, as he has always evinced whole-hearted devotion to the welfare of the school and assisted assiduously in furthering the success of any object on behalf of the institution. He has, when occasion has arisen, filled the position of actingheadmaster of the local school. Good wishes will accompany Mr and Mrs Bishop to their new home.
