MANAWATU COMPETITIONS.
NO GAMES IN SENIOR A. CENTURY TO BEARD. Oil account of the Manawatu representative team being absent in Nelson, no senior A grade matches were played on Saturday, but competitions in the senior B and junior grades were continued. For the most part batsmen were on top again, but not to such a pronounced extent as on the previous Saturday. The wickets were fast and the outfields keen, conditions, on the whole, being more pleasant than for many weeks past. In the senior B section Old Boys scored a win over United, while Combined Services defeated Kin Toa. A feature of the junior A grames was a splendid century scored by Beard (Public Services).
