WIN FOR WANGANUI.
WAIRARAPA OUTCLA SSED. WANGANUI, Jan. 23. Wanganui earned the right to challenge the holders of the Hawke Cup on Saturday, by beating Wairarapa by nine wickets. Wairarapa improved on their first innings score of 130 in the second, bv compiling 197, but Wanganui, holding the lead of 88 on the first strike, had no difficulty in scoring the necessary 110 to win, the total being reached for the loss of only one wicket. L. Kauter made 52 not out-
The most outstanding performance for Wairarapa. was registered by R. C'iarkc, who scored 77, includin'' eight boundaries. R. Hoar also batted well to make 46, and was associated with Clarke in a fifth-wicket partnership of 74.
