ST. PAUL’S CHURCH.
CHRISTMAS SERVICE. The Christmas musical service of St, Paul’s Methodist Church was held on Sunday evening, there being a large congregation. - An augmented choir under Mr A. Tregurtha rendered part one of “The Messiah,’’ and also the two choruses, “Lift up Your Heads”* and “Hallelujah” from part two. Prior to the presentation of the work Rev. M. A. McDowell, who conducted the service, gave a brief sketch of the life of the composer,'Georg Friedrich Handel, and of the inspired circumstances under which the great composition was writte l. » Mr C. B. Radcliffe presided at thcorgan and the soloists were Miss Olga Burton (Wellington, soprano), Miss lola Clark (contralto). Mr C. W. Sheriffs (tenor) and Mr G. H. Greenaway (bass).
