FUNCTION AT RONGOTEA.
I (From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, Aug. 25. To celebrate their silver wedding-, Mr and Mrs A. Simonsen arranged a most . enjoyable junction. It took the form of u late tea, followed by games, competition, and musical items. The tables looked gay with vases of Iceland poppies in orange 1 shades, and a beautiful bridal cake occupied a prominent position. An apology was read for the unavoidable absence of Rev. W. To Punga, and in his stead Mr 0., Claasen read the 146th Psalm, and the hymn "Now Praise We All Our God'' was sung by the company. The following toasts were honoured: "The King," "Bride and Bridegroom," and "Absent Relatives." The following contributed songs and recitations: Messrs H. Ferrier, O. Claasen, and W. Voelkerling. Those present were Mr and Mrs S. Klatt (Ohakea), Mr and Mrs F. Wright, Mr and Mrs L. 11. Yarrall, Mr and Mrs H. Ferrier; Mesdames Kruty I (New Plymouth), A. Jessop, Kirkham, and W. Amey; Misses Klatt, I. and M. Voelkerling, B. Kirkham, E. Simonsen. 11. Wright; I Messrs A. Hinty, H. Mass (Waitoa), 11. ! Simonsen (Waitoa). R. Wright, 0. Claasen, Voolkerling, Fred Weight, E. Simonsen, M. Wright, and A. Simonsen. Mr and Mrs Simonsen were presented by the members of their family with a handsome canteen of cutlery.'-
