(From Our Own Correspondent.) ' UTUWAI, Aug. 24.

Gaily coloured streamers and greenery made a dainty setting for the happy throng of dancers who gatliered at the hall when the Hall Committee held their first monster- danoe. Much credit is due to the committee, who spared no effort to make the function a success. Novelty dances were won by Mi's A. Roberts and Mr A. Coup, and Mrs Hooper and Mr R. Ilemminge. The duties of M.C.’9 were carried ‘out by Mr C. Port and Mr H. Yiles. Among; those dancing were Mesdames A. Roberts, old rose taffeta; R. Cheyne, pillar-box red, floral coatee; C. Searle, red georgette; C. Foot, apricot crepe, black coatee; J. Smith, black georgette; A.i Coup,, ivory Brussels lace, fur coatee; E. Buckman, ivory satin and lace; M. Searle, black velvet and floral tunic; J. Forbes, black velvet; Misses E. Grant, flame spotted tinsel crepe, white coatee; M. I-larkness, midnight blue velvet and lace; M. Foote, eau-do-nil net redingoto over crepe, mauve spray and sash; I. Roberts, black georgette, scarlet spray; M. Hooper, creme georgette; M. Osborne, apricot taffeta; 0. Hemmings, fuchsia satin, white coatee; Harland, blue floral georgette; A. Wingate, apricot pheasant eye taffeta; E.'
