HARMONICA BAND.

Marking a departure from the orthodox form of band, a mouth-organ combination known as the Palmerston North Harmonica Rascals Band was formed in the city about four months ago, and has since operated with signal success. On its inception there were ohly 11 members, but there are now 21. The band, -whose services are given, gratis, have attended gatherings in several parts of the Manawatu district'and have broadcast over station 2YA, AVellington, on several occasions. A party of 17 visited AVellington at. the end ol : last week, when they rendered items at the annual festival of the Wellington Competitions Society. There are eight ‘entries lor a solo mouth-organ competition, five) of the entrants being members of the local band. The two major places were awarded to the band. The standard of the playing was good, the points given ranging from between 65 and 75. The conductor is Mr A. Christensen and the secretary Mr R. C. AA’right.
