LITTLE THEATRE SOCIETY.

ONE-ACT PLAYS PiIODUCED. The work of New Zealand authors was featured in two one-act presented by the Palmerston North Little Theatre Society, before a large audience in All Saints’ Hall last evening. Careful staging made both plays very attractive and the well-drilled casts gave* admirable interpretations. It was interesting to see what could be done by a combination of New Zealand dramatists, producers and actors, and the results were creditable to all concerned. A sharp contrast to the normal atmosphere pervading our own every day lives was the fantasy which was the society’s third offering. Here th'ere was very little movement on a practically bare stage, the play relying for its effect almost entirely on voices and lighting. Some good work was also done in this presentation. Those taking part were Mesdames A. Skilton, G. O. Petersen, D. East, Misses L. Montgomery, J. Thomson, M. Thorburn, C. Cairns, P. Lewer, E. Sandman, B. Stewart Messrs L. Callis, R. C. Abraham, G. J. Bagnall, A. Ronberg, W. Oliver, R. Allison, E. D. Bennett, C. McAffer and A. E. Carrington. The producers were Mesdames E. Bowler Watson, V. E. Harman and Mr R. Rees. Prior to the programme opening, Mr H. G. Bagnall (president) welcomed the visitors and returned thanks to Messrs Ganderton and Keen, who contributed interlude music, which it was hoped would be the forerunner of the society’s own orchestra. Supper was served at the conclusion by Mesdames R. Allison (convener), H. G. Bagnall, T. Bennett, Misses M. Thwaites. J. Woodward, D. Woodward and P. Bagnall.
