ST PAUL’S GUILD
The monthly meetings of the St. Paul’s Methodist Ladies’ Guild. Broad Street, during the winter period are being held at residences of individual members. Following a very enjoyable meeting last month at the residence 'of Mrs J. Cunningham, Heretaunga Street, members met on Thursday at ti e residence of Mrs AV. B. Cameron (president) in Bussell Street. There was a large attendance, each members offering the gift of an apron. Many of these were afterwards sold the proceeds going towards guild funds. . Mrs Ashworth gave a talk on tie activities of the local branch of the Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. Good work was being done in the interests of the poor and needy, said the speaker, and the auxiliary was very conscious that it was doing a beneficent service tp suffering people. Mrs Ashworth received the thanks .of tin? meeting for her talk. Correspondence was received from Mrs H E Pacev, Wellington, and Mrs Tetley Christchurch, both of whom thanked the guild for interest m thenwelfare. Members were glad to learn that Mrs Pacey is making slow but sure progress towards recovery from her recent injury. It was decided to send greetings and sympathy to other members of the Church and guild who are laid aside by sickness. A committee was set lip to arrange for a public tea to be held in connection with the Church anniversary. At an interval tea was served by Mesdames Johansen and Hancock. Included amongsCHio numerous apologies was that of Mrs E. C. Barnett, secretary who was unavoidably absent. ‘Mrs Radcliffe and Mrs Rowlings, visitors from " Auckland, were welcomed during the afternoon.
