TEST OF COMMONS
ON DEFENCE POLICY. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, March 3. The Premier (Mr Chamberlain) will move, when the defence debate opens in the House of Commons on Monday, approval of the White Paper on defence. Labour will table an amendment tantamount to rejection of thq motion, reading: “This House, believing that the safety of the country' and the maintenance of peace are attainable only through collective security under the League, and, being willing to provide the arms necessary'to implement such policy, condemns the provision of immense armanents to further a dangerous unsound foreign policy undertaken in defiance of the Government’s election pledges, and cannot approve of a defence programme failing to effectively co-ordin-ate strategy, administration and supply, and permitting private manufacturers to make huge profits out of the nation’s needs.”
