(From Our Own Correspondent.)OTAKI, March 4. The rainfall in Otaki for the month of February was 2.62 inches. There were 13 days of rain, the heaviest daily fall (on the 4th) being 64 points. The total for the year so far is 6.56 in. At The quarterly meeting of the Olaki Licensing Bench, Mr J. L. Stout. S.M.> presiding, a transfer was granted from R. Jury to A. Mail- in connection with the Jubilee Hotel. The sitting was one of the shortest on record. Tho garden party held at the residence of Mrs W. Mcßoth for the purpose of raising funds for the Municipal Croquet Club was most enjoyable. Mrs Evans won a fishing competition and Mrs Kilmistcr clock goif. An auction sale of house property in connection witft tho estate of the late Mr J. P. Brandon was held on Wednesday afternoon with the following result: — Homestead: Passed in at £850; corner houso (next to homestead), £750, Mr Bigs, Upper Hutt; houso on Wacrenga Road, £465, Mr N. Williams; house in Rivcrhank Road, £155, Mr B. Ryder; premises in town, £250, Mr W. Bowden; vacant section next to homestead, passed in at £220. Friends of Miss Rona Thomson gave a surprise party in her honour at the home of her parents. Games and singing kept the party gay. Miss Thomson received various gifts for her kitchen. Mr F, Milton responded on behalf of the guest of honour.
