ASHHURST

(From Our Own Correspondent.! ASHHURST, March 4. A pleasant, time was spent on Wednesday afternoon at the residence of Mrs Holdcroft, Feilding Road, when 6he entertained members of the Methodist Church Ladies’ Guild. The bright sunshine was ideal, and the visitors had a very enjoyable time playing games and competitions on the lawns. The winners proved _bo Mcsdamcs A. Currie and H. Young. The hostess served afternoon tea. A “bring and buy” stall was held, the proceeds being in aid of the church. On Thursday evening a happy gathering of Bible class members met at the Methodist Parsonage, Pohangina Road. Some amusing games were played, Iwo interesting competitions wore won by Misses A. Dobson and M. Woodrofe. During* an interval between the games, Mrs Foston, Bible class leader, presented, on behalf of the class, a pretty cup, saucer and plate each to Misses M. Woodroofc and M. Templeton, on thoir coming-of-ago, and wished them many, very happy returns of the day. Both young ladies have been in the class some years and have always been good workers. Later, Mrs Foston provided an appetising supper, after which the party broke up. _ Those present included Mrs Foston, Misses G. Lovall, A. Dobson, M. Templeton. M. Woodroofe, K. Brower, V. Muldrock, T. Woodroofc, M. Dunstall and Rev. 0. A. Foston. Miss Miriam Hayward, of Feilding Road, has returned homo from a holiday spent in Wellington. Miss Gwen Lovcall has returned to Wellington after staying with her aunt, Mrs Foston, of Ashhurst. Many picnics have been held in _ the Ashhurst Domain this summer. Picnickers are able to find enjoyment easily both on the Domain and at the Manawatu River, which flows close by. Swings, a sand pit, merry-go-round and “oceanwaves” are an added attraction to all children.
