WRECK OF EMDEN.

AUSTRALIA SAID TO BE OWNER. SINGAPORE, Feb. 15. The Japanese ship Anyo Maru, which had been in port for four months, carrying 20 tons of metal from the wreck of the German wartime cruiser Emden, slipped out to sea on Saturday night. She returned last night, and the captain said that the metal had been thrown overboard. The police again detained the vessel. It is understood that charges will be laid if instructions are received from Australia, who is said to be the legal owner of the wreck of the Emden. GOVERNMENT AVILL INQUIRE. SYDNEY, Feb. 16. The Minister for External Affairs (Mr Hughes) said last night that he had received no official advice of the removal of metal from the wreck of the Emden. The Federal Government would make prompt inquiries about the matter. \ Until these inquiries had been made he could make no statement about, the legal ownership of the Emden wreck.
