NO SUNDAY TENNIS.
LONDON, Feb. 8. “When facilities for.sport are so numerous and so easy of access on weekdays as in Dorchester, it seems a great pity that the Sabbath should be used as a holiday instead of a Holy Day,” wrote the former cricketer, Gilbert Jessop, whose son is vicar of the local church, to the Dorchester Municipality. The municipality lias been discussing a proposal to permit Sunday tennis in the public gardens during hours when clmrch services are not being held. The Anglican and the Free Churches protested against the proposal, which was defeated by 14 votes to 8. ’’
