GARDEN PARTY
Brisk business was transacted at the gaily decorated stalls erected in the grounds of Mr and Mrs AAh B. Bodell’s residence, in AVood Street, yesterday afternoon, when the garden party organised by the ladies’ committee of the Central School, in aid ol the school funds, was brought to .a conclusion with games and competitions. The generous response of the parents was to be seen in the large array of produce and articles offered for sale. ....
The cakes and sweets competitions were judged by Mesdames AV. J. Croucher and A. J. Russell, and resulted as follows: —Sponge: Adults, Miss I. Jordan; children, Eileen Robinson. Sweets: Children, Pat Eglinton. Mrs Russell’s special prize, Peter Dawson. , . . ~ The baby competition, for which Mrs IC Dean acted as adjudicator, resulted as follows:—Boys, over six months, Robert Rossiter; Mrs Dean s specia John Warder; under six months, Bill Bodell. Girls: Under six months, Hilda Prodger; over six months, Barbara Harding.
