THE WEATHER
IMPROVEMENT SHORTLY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. The shallow cyclone moving from the north-north-west was centred west of Auckland this morning and should traverse the Cook Strait area to-day. A rather deep depression is located also over the south-west Tasman Sea. Forecast: Light to moderate and variable winds, with south-easterlies predominating at first. Weather: Cloudy to overcast, and in places misty, with further rain, but shortly improving. Seas, rather rough at times in parts of the straits, otherwise slight to moderate. Temperatures mild.
