ALAN LOVEDAY FUND.

Another concert arranged by the com mittce in charge of the Alan Loveday Fund is being held in the Opera House, Palmerston NorFn, on Saturday evening next. The object of the committee is to raise sufficient funds to send. this gifted boy violinist abroad in order to continue his musical studies. A very generous response was made by the public on the occasion of the last concert, and since that date contributions have been received from various sources. Mrs Ballantyne. Christchurch. forwarded a cheque. to the fund for £2O; the Woodville people have staged a concert by which it is hoped the fund will be augmented; Hawora is putting on a concert, for the fund on Thursday; and the Christchurch Harmonic Society has also indicated its desire to co-operate. The movement is becoming national in character, and it is therefore fitting that the local committee should have been able to have secured the assistance of radio station 2ZB. whose artists, Benno and Betty, Brian O’Brien and Barend Harris, have signified their intention of assisting the project _ The Straight Eight will also ho heard in tuneful numbers also Mr. George Wlvtclock s attractive voice. Mr Alan Sundborn is .to entertain. and those who appreciate his ability with the- guitar will be p eased to know that he is to be included in the programme. Alan Loveday will, again- b. heard on the violin. Oflier variety items are to be staged and an excellent programme of the popular type will be rendered. Box plans are now open at Coles s Music Store, and there is every prospect of a splendid house as a gesture of the goodwill of the people of the city and district.
