TROUBLE IN MAURITIUS.
POLICE FORCED TO FIRE.

The Colonial Office advises that, as a result of disorders on Friday in one locality in the south Mauritius, the police had to fire on the crowd, "killing one man. Order was quickly restored. The situation elsewhere is normal. Tho incident is not thought to por-. tend a fresh outbreak of the recent strikes, as the trouble began not on a sugar estate, hut in a hostile demonstration at the police station in a big village with a bad record of crime.
