FALSE DECLARATIONS.

That the time had come when power should be given to take cases of false declarations in connection with sustenn.nee payments under t.ie Crimes Act or the Justices of the Peace Act, according to the amounts involved, was the opinion voiced by Air J. Miller S.M., to-day, when sever,a I men appeared on these charges as the result of a special investigation of the earnings of watersides at Tsapier In several cases fines of £5 were imposed the others ranging lower in va.iying amounts.
