FREAK WEATHER.
FIFTY COLLAPSE ON LINER, LONDON, Aug. 17. Fifty persons—passengers and members of the crew—collapsed as a result of a beat wave, on hoard the liner Queen Mary, which arrived at Southampton to-day. Abnormally high temperatures were experienced in the Gulf Stream area. There was an unprecedented demand for drinks, and tho ship’s hospital was kept busy. Freak weather in England continues. There have been tropical deluges in certain parts of the country, whereas it is as dry as a bone in others. Thousands of gallons of milk have turned sour.
