MOTHERS’ UNION.

ALL SAINTS’ BRANCH. Members of All Saints’ branch of the Mothers’ Union were hostesses at an enjoyable afternoon gathering in the Parish Hall yesterday, when members of St. Peter’s branch and the branches at Ashhurst, Tokomaru, and •Shannon were present as guests. Mrs W. Langston presided, and associated with her were Mrs E. Dawick (enrolling member) and Mrs Metcalfe (lion. Mrs Metcalfe intimated that Mrs Facer, a member who has been in England for some time, hoped to be present at the next meeting. A delightful programme was presented. It opened with two contributions. “Old Folk’s Medley” and “The Fisherman,” by the Glee Circle of the Townswomen’s- Guild, under the direction or Mrs W. Bighani. Mrs H. Pierard was the pianiste. These items were particularly pleasing and the applause the singers were accorded was well merited. “Too Late.” a sketch by Mrs S. .T. Bennett and Mrs R. Hughes, was well done and most amusing. In response to prolonged acclamation, Mrs Hughes recited “The Art of Elocution” in a spirited manner. Miss Betty Tnglis sang “Who Is Sylvia, and '“My Treasure” very sweetly. Mrs Bigham being her accompaniste. Splendid elocutionary items, “Blind” and “Christmas Bells” were contributed bv Mrs M. Howley, Mrs A. J. McNeillv playing the musical accompaniment' Vocal solos, “Hills of Home’ and “Bless This House,” were .a fine contribution by Mrs Findlay (accompaniste, Mrs MeNeilly). The Glee Circle concluded the programme with “Orpheus With His Lute” and “John Peel.” Mrs Langston thanked the contributors. Rev. W. Langston extended a welcome to the visitors and commented that such gatherings deepened the spirit of fellowship between the branches. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames O. Dunstnn and E. Ashcroft (conveners), J. P. Stubbs, «T. Kennedy, E Bowden. IT. Radcliffe. C. G. Langridge, T. Inglis, A. D. Farrahei; and Rush.
