WEDDING.

DUTHIE—PEES. All Saints’ Church,, Palmerston North, was the scene of a very pretty wedding Inst evening, when Audrey Sophia twin daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas. S. Poes, of College Street, Palmerston North, was married to James Harlarid, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Jas. Dutliie, of Potorua. Pev. W. Langston officiated, and Mr J. Holmes Ifunnicles presided at the organ. The church had been decorated in gold tones by friends of the bride, and provided an attractive setting. Escorted by her father, 'the bride was a picture of grace in a frock of deep parchment panne velvet, cut on medieval lines. The sleeves were niched at the shoulder and full to the elbows, from where they fitted tightly to a point over the hands. The high neck-line had a soft roll collar and a spray of orange blossoms ornamented the corsage, the bodice fitting into the waist and the skirt being slightly, trained. A billowv tulle veil fell from a gold pleated halo, and softly enveloped the bride. She carried a sheaf of winter roses, freesias, bulb flowers, and maiden-hair fern. In attendance were Mrs H. Lucas Hunt (Wellington), twin sister of the bride, as matron-of-honour, Miss Una Dixon (Wellington), Miss Jean Duthie (Auckland), sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaids, and Barbara McKenzie (Hiwinui, Bunnythorpe) as flower girl. The first three were gowned in golden-brown panne velvet frocks, plaited with brown and gold round the necks, with a pleated panel inlet in the front and back. The Empire bodices had tiny brown buttons as a finishing effect, and the long sleeves were full at the shoulders. A big bow with a touch of gold adorned the bodices at the back. Gold plaited halos were worn, and sheafs of golden nasturtiums, laehenalia. and African marigolds completed their charming toilettes

The little flower girl wore a simple frock of the same material as the bride, with a Peter Pan collar, puffed sleeves, and the skirt gathering into the waist, which was encircled with a gold sash. Gold buttons were a pretty effect on the bodice in front, and she. wore a gold brooch (the gift of the bridegroom). A wreath of gold leaves glistened on her hair, and cream satin shoes peeped from under her frock She carried a Victorian posy of nasturtiums, pansies, and African marigolds, in gold tonings. Air H. Lucas Hunt (Wellington) was best man, and Air TV. 0. Harvey (Wellington) carried out the duties of usher. About fifty guests were received at a reception at the Roseo tearooms, where the tables were artistically arranged with Iceland poppies. The bride’s mother wore a navy cloque ensemble trimmed with navy stitched cire satin revers and a smart navy hat, and also a spray of Cerise flowers and cyclamen. In the unavoidable absence of the bridegroom’s parents, Aliss J. Duthie assisted Mrs Pees, and she wore a frock of rust marocain and a black velvet coat. The toasts honoured were “The King,” “The Bride and Bridegroom,” proposed by Mr A. F. AlcKenzie; “The Bridesmaids,” Air J. H. Duthie; “The Bride’s Parents and Grandparents,” Air H. L. Cameron; “The Bridegroom’s Parents,” Air H. L. Hunt. When Air and Airs J. H. Duthie left for the north on their honeymoon, the latter travelled in a smart pale beige and brown model frock made in redingote style, with a brown musquash coat and accessories to match. They will make their future howe in Hawera.
