CARE OF MATTRESSES.
To remove stains from a mattress, make a paste of starch and cold water and spread this over the stains. Allow it to become dry. and then brush off the starch, and if it is not clean repeat the process.
A hair mattress which lias become flattened by continual use will regain its former buoyancy if it is placed in front of a good fire and thoroughly warmed all through. Turpentine rubbed over wire mattresses twice a year will prevent them from becoming rusty. If a wire mattress has become rusty, apply a coat of aluminuium paint and this will prevent any further difficulty. To clean spiral bed springs, use an ordinary-dry washing mop, kept solely for this purpose.'Sprinkle a little furniture polish on the mop and the dust will cling to it instead of flying about.
