The fortnightly euchre party and dance of the Glen Oroua Social Club was held in the ball, when there was a good attendance. The ladies’ euchre prizes were won by Mrs F. Yautier and Mrs W. Davison, both of Rongotea, while the successful gentlemen were Messrs L. Craig and J. Wheeler. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss V. Burnip and partner, and the lucky Gay Gordons by Miss I. Cornwall and Mr T. Goodwin. Mr J. D. Sullivan was M.C. . Recent visitors to (lie district were Mr and Mrs D. Rose, of Waipawa and Mrs D. F. Whale, of Rangataua, who lias been oil a- visit to her sistcT9, Mrs S. Panauc, of Glen Oroua and Mrs 11. Tho school Rugby and basketball teams both bad home matches yesterday afternoon, the boys completing the first round, while the girls have still to play two games. 'The boys’ team were opposed to Sanson, who were beaten by 46 points to nil. Tries were scored by C. Webb (3), R. Mudford (3), and J. Webb (1), while C Webb converted three, W. Garner one, and J. Webb one. Tho score would have been much greater but for the fact that the homo players took things easily in the second spell, several of the smaller boys being allowed to kick at goal* blit with little sucess. Mr E. Cornwall referreed. Last week the team met Ropane at Kopane, and, playing ono man short, had a hard struggle to win by 6 points to 3. After an exciting game the girls basketball team were beaten by Kopane by two goals to one (scored by Norma Nott . Miss P. 8 Booth (Glen Oroua) refereed Last week the local team scored the first win in. the competition when they beat Sanson by 14 goals to four. The school closed yesterday afternoon for a week’s holiday, the first term holidays in May having been curtailed to allow teachers the opportunity of attending the Education Conference m Wellington next week. Mr and Mrs Pnrlane and family left to-day for W’aipawa, The management committee ot Uie ie Kawau Primary Schools’ Rugby Association hove made arrangements with the Manawatu Rugby Union to enable, the bovs under the control of the association to’witness the Springboks v. Manawatu match at Palmerston North.
