NEW ZEALAND’S SHARE. New Zealand ranks easily first as a supplier ’of butter and cheese to Great Britain. Of the total imports of butter into the United Kingdom during the six months ended Juno 30, totalling 242,624 tons, New Zealand supplied 80,977 tons, or 33.1-3 ner oont, Denmark coming next with 57,890 tops, and Australia third with 42,257 tons. Of the total of 134,208 tons of Empire butter _ imported into Britain during the last six months, Now Zealand’s proportion was 60 per cent. The following return, supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the” Dairy Board, gives a comparison of the butter imported into Great Britam from all sources during the first six months of the last three years: Six months to June 30, 1937. 1936. Grand total 242,624 245,295 252,255 New Zealand is also the principal supplier of cheeso to Great Britain. Of the total of 65.814 tons. imported into the United Kingdom during . the last six months, the Dominion supplied 49,072 tons, or more than 74 per cent. GREAT INCREASE IN BUTTER. Exports of butter from the Dominion for the 11 months of the 1936-37 season to Juno 30 readied the high figuro of 140,049 tons, ;tr compared with 128,976 tons for the corresponding period of last season, an increase of 11,073 tdns. Shipments last month tphiliod 10,155 tons, as compared with 7196 tons for Juno, 1936, an increase of 2958 tons. Returns supplied by the Primary Products. Marketing Department to this Dairy Board give the following comparison of blitter exports for the last two seasons:—

Shipments to Great Britain, which have increased by 11,628 tons during tile eleven months, represent 97.845 por cent, -of the Dominion's total exports of butter. Shipments to all other countries were only 2.155 per cent, of the toal exports of hotter (fntl at 3013 tons show a decrcnso for the eleven months of 555 tons. These figures show that Now Zealand is almost wholly dependent upon'Great Britain as a market for her butter. Shipments to London during the 11 months increased by. 5043 tons and those- to West of Britain ports at 35,911 tons increased by 6585 tons. . Shipments of butter from Australia ■to the United Kingdom' for the eleven months totalled 70,341 tons, as against 85,840 tons for the corresponding period of last season, a decrease of 15,439 tons. INCREASE . IN CHEESE.

Practically the whole of the Dominion’s exports of ehooso go to Great .Britain. Shipments during the eleven months totalled 79,460 tons, as against 77,046 tons for the corresponding period of last season, an increase of 2414 tons. Shipments last month were 6174 tons, as against 4289 tons for June, 1936, an increaso of 1885 tons.

Shipments to London increased during the eleven months by 972 tons and those to West of Britain port® by 1525 tons, a total increase of 2495 tons. Shipments to all other countrie® at 171 tons show a decrease of 81 tons.
