SATURDAY’S BOAD RAC*
The Feilding Amateur Cycling Club conducted a 25-mile road race on Saturday afternoon, when 15 competitors, including a contingent from Palmerston North, took part. The weather was cold and a southerly breeze was blowing. The metal roads were heavy as a result of rain earlier in the day and the going was hard. The successful riders were: H. Rogers (Palmerston North) 3min 1 ; G. Sheridan (I’almerston North) 4mm 2, and F. Manning (Palmerston North) 3. Fastest times were recorded by Rogers, 1 hr Bmin 15scc; G. Sheridan, 1 In- Oniin 15 3-sscc; Lainbcrton (Feilding), Hit Ehniu lGsec. On top of Mt. Biggs, Rogers and Essex, oil' the virtual scratch (3min) mark, had caught the two hunches of riders in front of them and were gaining rapidly on the front markers, who found the cold southerly wind very tiring. Rogers and several others overhauled the leaders a little before reaching Bunnythorpo and in a hard sprint Rogers beat G. Sheridan by one length for first place.
