THE WOOL CLIP.

A REMARKABLE CLEARANCE. SALES AND EXPORTS. The remarkable clearance of wool made during the 1936-37 season is shown in the latest returns covering the eleven months ended May 28, compiled by Dalgety and Co., Ltd. During that period 686,778 bales were offered, of which 681,876 bales, or 99.286 per cent., were sold. During May, 628 bales were offered arid sold. The figures for tho eleven months of the last two seasons compare as follow:

Last season’s offerings for the eleven months exoeedecl those for 1936-37 by 99,533 bales, and the sales -by 72,100 bales. Last season’s sales represented 95.887 per cent, of the total offerings, as compared with a clearance of 99.286 per cent, for the eleven months of 1936-37. Exports of wool last month totalled 74,277 bales, of which 50,2.02 bales were greasy wool and 24,075 bales scoured and slipe. Exports of wool for tho eleven months ended May 28, were 790.418 bales, as compared with 892,268 bales for the corresponding period of last season, a decrease of 101,850 bales. The figures show that Wellington is tho premier port for wool shipments, followed by Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Auckland and Wanganui, in that order.
