FEILDING SALE. Tho N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., report on the Feilding sale held on tho 4th instant, as follows: —Smaller offerings in each section wore tho order of the market. Tho presence of buyers from the King Country, who operated keenly for breeding ewes, assisted the market for this class, and the sale was very firm throughout. Apart from several lines of top true-to-age owes, tho quality was mediocre. The yarding of store iambs was the smallest for many months, and here again a sound market existed throughout for an offering which, except for one outstanding lino of owe lambs, was of medium to poor quality. The advertised lines of store wethers elicited keen competition. A drop of approximately Is per head was recorded on all classes in tho fat sheep section as compared with the previous week’s sale. There were medium entries of fat and boner cattle, and light entries of run and dairy cattle. Full clearances were for tho mdst part effected with no alteration in values. Quotations wore: — Fat sheep: Lambs, 18s 6d, 20s, 22s 3d, 25s 7d, to 26s 2d; wethers, 245, 27s 6d, 28s 6d, 30s Id, to 31s 7d; ewes, 21s 6d, 235, 24s 6d, 25s 4d, to 265. Store sheep: 2th ewes r.w. CLEARING SALE. The N.Z. Loan and 'Mercantile Agency Cov., Ltd., report- on Mr L. S. Purdom’s clearing sale at Pyke’s Road, Rangiotu, as follows: —A percentage of late Olivers and the fact that the cows were carrying too much condition accounted for tho apparent drop in value at this sale. However, better sorts met with a ready sale and 25 of the offering of 50 cows averaged £7 5s 6d. Young stock, horses, and machinery attracted keen attention, 13 yearling heifers selling at £3 3s, an aged mare at £l4 10s, and • a school pony for £lO.

NEW ZEALAND TALLOW.

INCREASE IN EXPORTS. Shipments of tallow from Dominion ports last month totalled 2953 tons, of which 1637 J tons were for Europe, 645 tons for India; 4751 tons for Japan. 191 J tons for the United States, and four tons went “elsewhere.” According to the returns compiled by Dalgety and Co., Ltd,, exports of tallow for the 11 months to May 28 totalled 24,896 tons, as compared with 19.498 tons for the corresponding period of 1935-36, an increase of 5398 tons. Sales of tallow in New Zealand last month totalled 41} tons.
