D (1.30 p.m.), Miss Vautier; Technical D v. Whakarongo B (2.15 p.m.), Miss Ross; Y.W.C.A. C a bye. INTER-HOUSE PLAY. The Y.M.C.A.- inter-house basketball competition games played last evening resulted as follow: — .-A Ladies’ section. —Public Service 22 v. P.D.C. 8; J. R. McKenzie’s 14 v. Glaxo 12; R. and B. 16 v. M.K.M. 12; C.M.R. 14 v. Rosco. 10; Woolworths 20 v. Watchorn’s 10. Men’s section. —Hopwood’s 20 v. C. and C.’a 9: Y.M.D. 18 v. Watson Bros. 11; Berry’s 20 v. City Council 14. While being “interviewed” before the microphone in one of her recent broadcasts, Mrs Roosevelt was asked to describe her most amusing experience since her husband became President of the United States, says a contributor to the Daily Telegraph. Thereupon she told how she once went into a New York department store and ordered some goods to be sent to “Mrs F. D. Roosevelt, . the White House, Washington. .D..C.” -The girl who was taking the order wrote this down quite calmly, and without any sign of the emotion which anyone in; lifer position mighi be expected to -register on realising that her customer was the First Lady.
