COMING-OF-AGE PARTY.

A jolly celebration was held at the residence of Air and Airs A. Stubbs, Fitzherbert Avenue, last night, to celebrate the coming-of-age of their daughter, Nyra. There was a gathering of about seventy, who were happily occupied with a programme of games and dancing. Aliss Stubbs looked very pretty when she led off the first dance with Mr YV. Cedarmau, an old friend of the family, as her partner. She wore a frock of pale .pink net over satin, trimmed with silver, with- a silver girdle and shoes, and in her hair was an Alice-in-Wonderland bandeau of brilliants. Airs Stubbs, who received the guests, was attired in a smart frock of brown marocain with a shoulder cape of beige lace. She was assisted in her duties as hostess by Airs E. Cross, who wore a floral frock in cream and pastel toni’ngs, and Mrs R. YVatson, who had chosen a floral frock also. The grandmother of the gu%st of honour, Mrs F. Halmshaw, who is eighty years of age, was also present, wearing a black frock with fawn trimmings. Bunting, streamers, balloons and coloured lights gaily decorated the room in which the function was held. A handsome two-tiered birthday cake, made by Alt's Stubbs and iced in pink by Airs Cross, was admired. A buffet supper was served, a toast proposed to the guest of Itonour by Mr Cross being honoured and musical honours accorded her. Mr F. Senter proposed a toast to the host and hostess, and Air Stubbs presented his daughter with a silver key. A novel idea was the passing round of an autograph hook inscribed outside witli a silver key, in which all tho guests signed their names, and this will be a memento of the occasion for Aliss Stubbs. Considerable merriment was derived by the guests from the arrival of “the Dionne quintuplets” in a gocart, accompanied by their “parents.” Those taking part were Alessrs YV. Duckworth and E. Cross (mother and father respectively), Air and All's R. Watson, Mr R. YVatt, Mrs E. Cross, and Miss E. Duckworth. A beautiful array of presents was received by Miss Stubbs. '
